I am a maker. I bridge the ancient lineage of handiwork with contemporary art, influenced by the tradition of women's work. My life experiences as a sculptural weaver, a decorative painter, and my travels to Morocco are all reflected in my current studio work. Materials like polished plasters, mica, sand, metallic leaf, rhinestones, inherited fabrics, pigments, and found objects allow me to push artistic boundaries and honor the resilience of women. The intricate textures and layers evoke a mysterious sense of history, inviting viewers to reflect on your own stories and our shared experiences. Abstract, ethereal feminine forms act as conduits for this reflection, representing themes of personal healing, struggle, and the fight for reproductive rights. They may also symbolize portals/keyholes as we enter the unknown during a challenging political and cultural time, making our marks and using our art and voice to forge ahead towards change.
Through visual storytelling, my work connects us as we journey toward safety, adventure, and belonging, ultimately weaving together our communities. My hope is to bring through my art a hint of beauty and a bit of joy.
